Sportskeeda’s Kanav Sud talks about the upcoming IPL and how brands can capitalize on the holiday

IPL 2022 promises to be an exciting time for cricket lovers after the disruptions we have experienced over the past 2 years. This year is not just exciting for franchises, players and fans, but also for brands looking to capitalize on India’s biggest sporting spectacle. We chat with Kanav Sud, Business Head – Sales at Sportskeeda about what he is looking forward to this season.

Congratulations for being the #1 sports website in India according to Jan Comscore figures. You must be delighted?

Yes thanks. It is indeed a proud moment for the whole team. I want to congratulate everyone at Sportskeeda for achieving this feat. We were in no. 2 position for a while, #1 is a whole different feeling.

Do you think we could have a record IPL this season?

Yes I really mean it, due to the pandemic the last 2 years have been back and forth with multiple disruptions, even last year we had 2 seasons of IPL. This year everyone is ready and looking to get the most out of the IPL. At Sportskeeda we have seen a surge in interest from advertisers and have more than doubled the deals we have secured compared to last year and this IPL season, fingers crossed, could be the biggest of them all.

Sounds good, what was Sportskeeda’s goal for this IPL season?

IPL is certainly the biggest boon to sports media and we have a solid base of over 75 million users who flock to Sportskeeda for our ball-by-ball live scores and in-depth coverage, in addition to strong following and spread over 22 million social media. . Our goal is to provide the best integrated solutions for brands and not just to run mundane advertisements. We introduced several innovative ad formats this year and the initial response to these has been amazing.

Which Sportskeeda properties are you most excited about?

Apart from innovative ad formats, one thing that excites me is IP video which we have been pursuing since the last T20 world with Harbhajan Singh and Shoaib Akhtar. This year we take the cricket banter, fun and excitement several notches higher with a lineup of superstars from Mohammad Kaif, Vivek Razdan and Boria Majumdar, in addition to the 2 superstars mentioned above they will be part of of several original programming and IP video with Sportskeeda that brands can exploit.

Which brands have you collaborated with this season?

It’s a big list and has brands in various verticals – some big brands across OTT, Food Delivery, BFSI, Fantasy Gaming & Auto to name a few.
